Nov 25, 2011, 11:01 am

The PeeWee Warriors had a tough week as they lost on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.  On Monday night Wakaw hosted Hepburn, Sarah Olexsyn scored a highlight reel goal.  On Tuesday, the Warriors travelled to Hague, the offence was lead by Shayna Regnier who recorded a hat trick.  The busy three days concluded with a trip to Warman, Steven Simon had a very good game in goal against a strong Warman team.

Novice Warriors Win to Even Their Record
Nov 24, 2011, 11:42 am

Maybe it was the new hot chocolate machine at the rink that caused the Novice Warriors to be hitting on all cylinders last night at the Wakaw Arena.  The Warriors defeated Waldheim 9-4 to even their record at 2 wins and 2 losses.  Penny Bellefontaine lead the way in goal with several nice saves, maybe it is the bloodlines that makes her comfortable in between the pipes.

Atom Warriors Tournament
Nov 21, 2011, 10:09 am

The Atom Warriors held their home tournament on Saturday, November 19th.  The Tisdale Ramblers, Prince Albert White Sharks, and the Langham Vikings were in town.  The tournament was very successful and all  the players enjoyed themselves.  Tanner Blondeau, Luke Halyk, and Levi Peterson did a great job officiating and the Wakaw Arena staff ensured everything ran smoothly as they always do.

Last night at the Wakaw Arena the Atom Warriors defeated the Cudworth Stars 10 - 3 for their first win of the season.  The Wakaw team played much better defensively than their first outing against Langham.  Brandon Hilkewich and Benjamin Peterson lead the way on the scoresheet, each getting hat tricks, while Tanner Pipchuk and Sam Gareau each got their first goals of the year. The Warriors are in Aberdeen tonight.

The Cudworth Bantam Stars also won last night 8 - 1 over the Beardy's Blackhawks.  Cruz Shevernoha scored for the Cudworth team, which includes Wakaw players Cruz Shevernoha, Colton Demong, Tanner Blondeau, Luke Halyk, and Cullen Giesbrecht.

Cudworth took the lead with 18 seconds left.  Alex Trumier made his debut in goal and Owen Kristoff notched his first goal of the year.

The Novice Warriors opened their season tonight at the Wakaw Arena with a convincing     8 - 3 victory.  The game was close at 4 - 3 through two periods but the home team pulled away in the third period.  Owen Kristoff played goal while several players, led by Bradley Hilkewich, contributed on the scoresheet.   Wakaw hockey welcomes several new novice players, including Seth Hadlow, Denis Gaudet, Ryder Jenny, Scott Lai, and Liam McKinnon.  Congratulations on your first win.

Game on, PeeWee Warriors 4 vs. Beardy's 4
Nov 8, 2011, 7:32 am

The PeeWee Warriors kicked off the hockey season last night with a 4 - 4 tie against the Beardy's Blackhawks at the Wakaw Arena.  Steven Simon played very good in goal, he looked and played as if he has been playing the position for years.  Kyle Michayluk made a great play to put the Warriors up 4 - 3 with under 2 minutes to play.  Beardy's scored with 7 seconds to play with a point shot that deflected a couple of times before finding it's way into the back of the net.  Good job Warriors.
