Playoff Update - Mar. 14

The Novice Warriors completed their final playoff series with a 3 - 2 victory in Waldheim, therefore taking the series and winning a bronze medal.  

The Atom Warriors defeated the Hague Royals in their final series to finish the SVMHL season 5th in the 12 team division.  

Playoff Update - Feb. 22

The Novice Warriors fell to the Hague Royals last night in Hague.  The Royals proved to be too tough and the Warriors lost their second round series.  The Warriors will now wait to face the loser of the Waldheim vs. Rosthern series.

The PeeWee Warriors began their final playoff series vs. Hafford last night at the Wakaw Arena.  Hafford prevailed 3 - 2 to take a lead in the best of three series.  Cole Smith and Connor Trumier scored the goals for the Warriors and Jack Bellefontaine gave his team a chance by playing well in goal.  The Warriors just couldn't get the bounce they needed to get the tying goal.

Playoff Update - Feb. 16

The Novice Warriors finished off their first round playoff series with an 18 - 1 blowout victory of SVP.  They have started their second round but fell 12 - 4 to Hague at home Thursday night.

The Atom Warriors entered their second game against Langham up two goals but lost 5 - 2 in Langham to lose their series by one goal.  They will play in the consolation side vs. Hague to finish off their season.  This series loss ended the chance of the Atom team capturing the league title.

The PeeWee Warriors also lost their first round series by one goal to Hepburn.  They will finish off their season in the consolation side against Hafford.

The Bantam Warriors and Midget Warriors defeated Shellbrook and Aberdeen in their first round matches.  Both of these teams are attempting to bring home a league title to Wakaw.



Novice & Atom Warriors Open the Playoffs With Victories

The Novice Warriors defeated SVP 12-1 on Monday night to take an 11 goal lead into the second game, to be played in Wakaw on Thursday, February 7.  Connor Olexsyn and Logan Gareau scored 3 each, and Liam McKinnon also added a pair to lead the way on the scoresheet.  Kyra Trumier got the start in net and held SVP to a single goal.

The Atom Warriors also got off to a good start by defeating the Langham Vikings 4-2 at the Wakaw Arena on Monday night.  Robert Dailey played well in goal while the strong blueliner play was lead by Hannah Gaudry, Olivia Jacobson, and Bradley Hilkewich, limiting the Vikings to two goals.  Ben Peterson had 3 goals and Cayleb Gorieu added the game winner to take a two goal lead into the second match on Friday in Langham.

The SVMHL regular season has wrapped up in all the divisions except Midget.  The Midget Warriors will play their final regular season game on Wednesday in Rosthern. All first round series are decided by a two game (total goal) format. Here is how the Warrior teams finished and who they will meet in the first round of playoffs:

Bellefontaine Wins Jerseys for Warriors

Wakaw Minor Hockey would like to send out a thank you to Penny Bellefontaine.  The Novice Warriors have been wearing the 20 jerseys that Penny won by submitting an essay to DuPont Pioneer describing what hockey means to her community, her hockey dream, her favourite part of hockey and her favourite hockey memory.  The following is Ryan presenting the award to Penny.  Good work, Penny.

The Warrior hockey teams have been busy with their respective hockey seasons.  The SVMHL regular season is scheduled to conclude on or before February 3rd and playoffs to begin February 4th.  All scores can be found by clicking on the game schedule link.  The records of each team can be found if you click on the specific team link.

The Novice Warriors lost at home 4 -3 to Aberdeen on Thursday, November 15.  The Warriors fought hard to tie the score, but in the end were denied by stellar goaltending and some bad luck!  

The Atom Warriors defeated Hepburn 15 - 0 on November 12th and Beardy's 9 - 6 on November 19th, both games were played at the Wakaw Arena.  Olivia Jacobson recorded a shutout in her first game playing goal in over a year.  The Atom Warriors won the C-side in a tournament in Leroy on November 17th, the Warriors tied the final game with 1 minute remaining and scored the winner with only 0.9 seconds on the clock for the victory.

The PeeWee Warriors skated to a 3 - 3 draw with Hague at the Wakaw Arena last Thursday.  The Warriors tied the game after trailing 3 - 1 in the third period, Cole Smith recorded a hat trick for the Warriors.        

The Bantam Warriors took to the road to defeat the Beardy's Blackhawks 8 - 2 on Wednesday, November 14th.  The Bantam club also attended a tournament in Nipawin on November 17th & 18th, the Warriors won the B-side. 

The Midget Warriors defeated Hague 4 - 3 on Monday, November 13th at the Wakaw Arena.The Warriors took the lead with less than five minutes remaining on the second goal of the game for Skyler Haugen.  The Warriors lost a close road game to Warman on Friday night and tied Shellbrook II 4 - 4 at the Wakaw Arena last night.
